The clock continued to tick menacingly across the room; yet another reminder that I would soon need to get up and cook.

That’s a bit ridiculous. Just let me drop by with some food, alright? I smiled to no one, my teeth not showing. Tempting as it was, no.

I don’t want you to leave work for me. I replied with truth. I can’t even remember how we got on the topic to be completely honest.

I slowly slide the phone to the far corner of my desk once clicking the send button. Let’s try this again. The clock showed about 11:30am and I was only three pages further then where I’d been this morning. Damn. My mind was unfortunately on other things.

Thank you to everyone who is still following the story!!! I love you all and wish you an awesome holiday! Hopefully, I will have this chapter, along with number 3, posted by Christmas eve. Who know :)(:

So, to put it simply I could never get a hold of my beta. She must have evaporated. I had this chapter written a week ago but she never emailed me back. I got tired of waiting so...here we are now I guess. I'm really in need of a beta because a.) grammar, and b.) my ego needs the reassurance.


Just kidding!! :)


But really, I like having someone there that I can bounce ideas off of and who will tell me if something is stupid and/or amazing!

Anyway...I'm so sorry it took so long. I'm 1/2 through chapter 2 of "Open" and I've started chapter 1 of "Those Times" :)

My eyes gaze up and I study the photos that are now carved into my memory. Above my TV and over all the walls are my most prized possessions. Pictures of. Her and Me and She. She and Me. Her and She. Her and me at the park. At the lake. All of us together and we are happy. Smiling. It gives me hope for a greater tomorrow. But I know it will most likely never walk through the front door. What would she think if she walked in right now? What would she say? Would she recognize me? Would she remember me? Am I really worth remembering?

Chapter 1 - Preview

One step forward only to be pushed two steps back.

The pencil stopped. Not because I wanted it to, it just stop moving on its own accord. Well, the pencil is in my hand but I didn’t want it to stop moving. What I mean is I didn’t want it to stop…

I really should learn the art of sleeping.

I closed my eyes and rested my head against the wood of the desk. It felt nice; not cold but not hot, just cool and stiff. The support felt nice.

It is almost 5:30am. He will be waking up soon. He will open his eyes and see that I am not lying beside him. He will call out and I won’t answer. He will stand up and make his rounds looking for me, because this isn’t the first time he has woken up the nothing.
